Probably I am bit late in catching up with your post.

BTW, the later part of the vanna vanna pookkal title score did remind me of mouna ragam's main theme; but like a more improvised version.

Raja's innovations are unique. Even in the Idhayam BGM he brings in chromaticism wonderfully where the mood is very sombre. It is indeed amazing ...Suresh, thanks for the link. It is indeed amazing to see that Raja used a song from another movie for the MTK titles. Both movies released around the same time. Since Raja jointly scored music for MTK with MSV, is it possible that he used some stock title score (based clearly on the Sithirai Maasathu song) for MTK?

However the title score clearly is the song that I mentioned...even the stanzas are present in the score. I don't see any derivativeness to Sakkarakatti (which is also another fav of mine).

I wish Vicky or some others would have an insight into how Sithirai Maasathu came to be used as title score for MTK...this is great trivia.

Suresh, once again, I commend you on your post...I can keep going back and reading it again.Shankarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04584706803630803326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2995232424873037966.post-37317436985223058292009-08-10T21:45:07.186-07:002009-08-10T21:45:07.186-07:00sa.dhana - Thank you.sa.dhana - Thank you.P.S. Thank you so much for letting me know that...Vicky,

Thank you so much for letting me know that you read it completely. When I decide to write such long articles, I was always having this question about who is going to read it, listen all the clips and try to make sense of everything. But still I decide to go about it because, may be even if not now, later there will be people who will have time to kill, who will end up on this page and stay, read, listen and savor (My first ever write-up on BGMs, Pithamagan background score is a proof of that). As I post my audio through Hip Cast, I get the statistics of how many times each audio clip was played. It clearly gives me a picture how thoroughly the article was read.

In ‘Idhayam’, I guess there are no Cardio gram visuals in the titles but yes musically there is some connection (with Idhayathai Thirudathey titles) in the way the piece is orchestrated.

I must admit I got to know about YMP from your blog. And yes YMP is a boon. If you read my article on Lagaan background score, you can see how I have struggled to refer the audio clips in the description through numbers. When I posted it, I wasn’t sure whether it is reader friendly
but still went ahead posting it as I had no other option. But with YMP it really makes both the writer’s and the reader’s job easy.P.S. Thanks a ton.

I do have a comment in response to a previous comment. You posted a link to the title track from Mella Thirandhadhu Kathavu. I'm not so sure it's the title track from that movie. The guitar solo is infact playing "Sithirai Masathu Poongatru" from the film "Chinna Kuyil Paaduthu" and the later parts also have the stanza mixed in. Did Raja use a song from another movie to score the title track of MTK? Maybe he did...but I'm not so sure he would do that.

ShankarShankarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04584706803630803326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2995232424873037966.post-50942685719737900232009-08-10T13:47:37.437-07:002009-08-10T13:47:37.437-07:00Dear Suresh:

The similarity lies not just in the key word in their titles, but if I remember correctly both the titles show the hero in critical condition and the music runs along with their Electro Cardio Graphs.. The intermittent application of theme played in Oboe (The Idhayam piece going as "sa sa ga .. sa sa ga" and the ID piece going as "pa pa ga.." like a Dit-Dit-Dah, all around the same minor domain) SOS-es hero's state of mind and body better than the Morse Code.

Articles like these not only celebrate the Genius of creators like Raaja but also acknowledges their hard work on a topic which is usually perceived as a unit of measurement for the late comers to know "How much of the movie did I miss"

With Love
Vicky

PS: Glad to know that you converted to YMP too.. your article seem to substantiate my belief that YMP is a good choice to provide inline embedding of the clips.Vignesh Subramanianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13757037426192623732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2995232424873037966.post-67351536465373943492009-08-10T12:53:52.217-07:002009-08-10T12:53:52.217-07:00Suresh,
